In recent years, there has been a significant number of unemployed IT graduates in Malaysia. At the same time, there have been a significant number of unfilled job positions, with companies sometimes resorting to hiring IT workers from India or other countries. The questions arise:
In 2004, a public discussion forum was jointly organized by jobstreet.com and Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST), to address these issues. It was entitled, Jobless IT grads: the real issue. Dr. Daniel Wong, then on the faculty of MUST, was one of the panelists. The Star wrote published an article about the forum on August 3, 2004.
In 2008, Dr. Wong and the 3G group of companies found out about IIHT and its unique TIMS program. They realized that this program could produce skilled IT professionals that would meet a large market need in IMS, both in Malaysia and around the world. It could thus be part of the solution to the problem of unemployment of IT workers.
Franchising
After some discussions with IIHT, a franchise agreement was signed in July 2008. Now, in April 2009, TIMS will spearhead the IIHT training in Malaysia.
